About The Lu Group

Advancing theoretical chemistry to understand quantum effects in complex systems

Our Mission

The Lu Group at Shenzhen Bay Laboratory is dedicated to developing cutting-edge theoretical and computational methods to understand quantum phenomena in chemical and biological systems.

Our research bridges the gap between fundamental electronic structure theory and practical applications in photochemistry, catalysis, and quantum biology. We strive to create methods that are both rigorous and computationally efficient, enabling simulations of complex systems that were previously intractable.

We believe in open science and collaboration. Our methods are implemented in open-source software packages, and we actively collaborate with experimental groups around the world to validate and apply our theoretical predictions.

Our Values

The principles that guide our research and collaboration

Scientific Rigor

We pursue fundamental understanding with mathematical rigor and careful validation.

Collaboration

We believe the best science happens through open collaboration and diverse perspectives.

Open Science

We share our methods, code, and data to accelerate scientific progress.

Mentorship

We are committed to training the next generation of computational scientists.

Shenzhen Bay Laboratory

深圳湾实验室 (SZBL) is a provincial laboratory established in 2019, focused on life sciences and information technology. Located in the heart of China's innovation hub, SZBL brings together researchers from around the world to tackle fundamental challenges in biology and medicine.

Dr. Lu is also a SMART Fellow at the Shenzhen Medical Academy of Research and Translation (SMART), where he teaches a general education course on artificial intelligence.
